All of Us Are Dead Season 2: Why the Four-Year Wait?
Netflix's hit zombie K-drama still has no release date, but here's why the delay is longer than anyone expected.

More than four years after its first season premiered, Netflix's zombie K-drama "All of Us Are Dead" still hasn't set a date for season two. The wait has frustrated fans of the show, which landed 474.26 million viewing hours in its first 30 days (per Nielsen, via What's On Netflix) and sat in the Netflix Top 10 of multiple countries.
The school-set horror story ended its first season on a cliffhanger, deliberately changing the end of the original webtoon to leave room for more. Netflix officially announced a second season on June 6, 2022, with two teaser videos featuring the cast. Cheong-san actor Yoon Chan-young appeared in the announcement, signaling his character would return.
So what's taking so long?
Production delays pushed the timeline
In April 2024, Film Monster CEO Park Chul-soo said production would start that year and the season would arrive in the latter half of 2025, reported by The Chosun Daily. That already meant a three-and-a-half-year gap between seasons. But Star News later reported that filming moved to 2025 entirely, with the stated goal of delivering a better final product. That shift made the original 2025 release date impossible.
Other hit K-dramas have had similar waits. "Sweet Home" and "Squid Game" each took three years to return after their first seasons. But both shows then shot their second and third seasons back to back, cutting the wait for season three to less than a year. "All of Us Are Dead" hasn't announced any such back-to-back plan.
The delay also creates a casting challenge. All the main characters are supposed to be high school students. More than four years have passed since season one, and the actors have visibly aged. "Sweet Home" handled this with a one-year time jump at the start of season two. "All of Us Are Dead" will likely need a similar explanation.
The only good news: the show is still coming
As of October 2026, Netflix has released a teaser trailer showing a zombie mob in the show's signature style, reports Screen Rant. The teaser confirms the season will arrive on Netflix but offers no release date. While the show still has dedicated fans, the long pause means the general audience may need a reminder of the story and characters.
Reportedly by Star News, the production delay was meant to ensure quality. But for a show that found worldwide success in its first season, the gap feels unprecedented.
