Ben Affleck's 'Animals' Hits Netflix on October 9
The actor-director returns to high-octane thrillers with a kidnapping story starring Kerry Washington and Steven Yeun.

A new Netflix thriller from Ben Affleck is arriving this Friday. Collider reports that "Animals" will stream on the platform starting October 9.
Affleck both stars in and directs the film. It marks his first time directing a high-octane thriller since 2016's "Live By Night." His most recent directorial effort, 2023's "Air," was a drama. He co-wrote the script with Billy Ray and Connor O. McIntyre.
The cast includes Ray Fisher, who played Cyborg alongside Affleck in "Justice League." Emmy winner Kerry Washington, Steven Yeun ("The Walking Dead"), and Gillian Anderson ("The X-Files") also have key roles.
According to Netflix's synopsis, the plot follows a Los Angeles mayoral candidate and his wife whose son is kidnapped. As they scramble to raise the ransom, they are pulled into a web of deception that forces them to make choices that could tear their world apart.
The film does not yet have a Rotten Tomatoes score. Collider notes that critic reviews will begin appearing later this week after the embargo lifts. A Popcornmeter score is expected by the end of the weekend once enough audience reviews are registered.
For parents: This is a kidnapping thriller with intense themes. Expect tense situations and moral dilemmas. No official age rating has been announced yet.
