Jessica Chastain plays a fictional country singer drawn into a deadly Nashville mystery in the first trailer for "Heartland," which Netflix will release on Nov. 13.

Chastain's character, Misty Jones, was once one of Nashville's biggest stars. She's been away from the spotlight for 20 years. She returns not to perform but to find her niece, a rising country singer who has disappeared into the city's seedy underworld. The trailer suggests powerful people want to make sure the niece is never found.

Chastain also performs on the film's soundtrack, including the title track "Heartland." She duets on the song with Jennifer Nettles, who also stars in the film. The soundtrack features other cast members Ross Lynch and Carter Faith (making her acting debut) as well as musicians Margo Price, Carly Pearce, Eddy Dunlap, Channing Wilson and Dave "Fergie" Ferguson.

Reported by Collider, the cast also includes Garrett Hedlund ("Tulsa King"), Paul Sparks, John Hawkes, Hill Harper, Norbert Leo Butz, Wynn Everett, Isabelle Kusman and David Rysdahl.

Shana Feste wrote and directed "Heartland." She previously wrote and directed the Gwyneth Paltrow drama "Country Strong," which also explored the country music world. Peter Chernin, Jenno Topping, Randall Poster and Jason Owen produced the film. Tracey Cook and Jeff Valeri are executive producers.

"Heartland" premieres exclusively on Netflix on Nov. 13.
