Jan. 6 Rioter Tells 'Daily Show' She'd 'Absolutely' Do It Again

Yvonne St. Cyr, who served 33 months for storming the Capitol, says she still feels like a victim and expects $2,270 from the Trump administration.

Jordan Klepper sat down with a Jan. 6 insurrectionist for "The Daily Show" on Tuesday, and she didn't mince words about her regret level.

Yvonne St. Cyr was sentenced to 30 months in prison and three years of supervised release after storming the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021. She also paid more than $3,000 in fines. The Trump administration promised to reimburse $2,270 of that restitution.

St. Cyr told Klepper she felt she was owed the money because the government made her a victim.

"It's been devastating," she said. "People lost their businesses, divorces happened."

Klepper responded that from what he heard, it sounded like St. Cyr and others were the victims of Jan. 6, adding, "It's still a little bit bonkers to me."

"We will be vindicated, and you will feel like an ass for this interview someday," St. Cyr replied.

Klepper also spoke with Democratic Rep. Joseph Morelle (D-N.Y.), who called any compensation for the rioters "without precedent."

"It's without precedent in the United States that we would pay people, who committed crimes against the country despite the fact they got a pardon," Morelle said.

Klepper returned to the Capitol with St. Cyr, put on a fur hat and asked if she was ready to run it back.

"I'm not the same girl I was then," she said.

When he asked if she would do it all over again, her answer was one word: "Absolutely."

"Guess we're meeting back here in 2028," Klepper joked.
