Kimmel: 'The Gang Who Brought Polio Back' at Trump's Plague Aid

The late-night host mocked the president's promise to help Russia after a suspected plague death in Siberia.

Jimmy Kimmel took his best shot at Donald Trump's foreign policy instincts Monday night. TheWrap reports that during his "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" monologue, Kimmel tore into the president's offer to send aid to Russia amid a plague outbreak in Siberia.

The situation: A 28-year-old laboratory worker at the Irkutsk Anti-Plague Institute died of severe pneumonia. Dozens more are in quarantine. And Kimmel was not impressed by the White House's response. "The White House says they are monitoring the situation and assessing options to figure out if there is any way they can make money off of it," he said.

Trump, when asked about the outbreak, said "we'll help them." Kimmel's reply: "No worries. The gang who brought polio back is on the case."

The comedian also tied the outbreak to a lab leak origin. "This outbreak, which is scary, is reported to have originated with a lab leak at the Anti-Plague Institute of Siberia," he said. "Which sounds like the plot of one of those horror movies you can only get on Tubi."

Kimmel didn't stop there. He cracked about the New York governor declaring a disaster emergency over measles, plus the flu, rabies, West Nile and flea-born typhus all on the rise. And he took a sarcastic jab at Trump's AI-generated religious memes: "Glad we have a president who is a doctor and also Jesus."

TheWrap notes a White House representative did not respond to a request for comment. "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m. ET on ABC.
