Lanterns Season 1: 8 Unanswered Questions We Have
Screen Rant breaks down the biggest mysteries after the DCU's first Green Lantern series finale.

If you finished Lanterns season 1 and felt like the story was just getting started, you're not alone. Screen Rant has compiled eight questions the finale left us with. Some are big (can Hal Jordan come back?), some are smaller (who was the Gotham monster?), but all of them set up a potential season 2 that hasn't been officially ordered yet. (Screen Rant notes a writers' room has been formed, and John Stewart is confirmed for 2027's Man of Tomorrow.)
- **Can Sinestro really resurrect Hal Jordan?** Sheriff Kane killed Hal, but Sinestro said he could bring him back. Screen Rant points to the comicbook precedent in Green Lantern: Rebirth, but the show gave no explanation for how. If season 2 happens, this could be a major plot.
- **Where is John Stewart's uniform?** He finally charges his lantern and flies, but he's not wearing a Green Lantern suit. Screen Rant suspects the debut will come in the upcoming Man of Tomorrow movie.
- **What's up with the corrupted lantern?** Sinestro forged John's lantern on a world saturated with fear, leaving golden-yellow cracks. Screen Rant notes this nods to the comics' "yellow impurity" and raises questions about side effects.
- **What happens to Sinestro?** Stranded on that fear world, he believes fear is the most powerful force. Screen Rant says this is the perfect setup for the Sinestro Corps in season 2.
- **Who is the Gotham monster?** The mysterious figure who killed Sheriff Kane's father and sent men after her is never revealed. Screen Rant suggests Black Mask, Penguin, or Rupert Thorne, with a Janus Cosmetics storefront spotted in an earlier episode as possible evidence for Black Mask.
- **Will Noah Macon stay free?** John believes Noah can overcome his Manhunter programming, but Noah admitted his ambitions were influenced. Screen Rant leaves the door open for a return in season 2.
- **What's Guy Gardner's role now?** With John Stewart as Earth's Green Lantern and Guy protecting the stars, Screen Rant asks whether Guy is being replaced in the superhero team from Superman (2025). Man of Tomorrow may answer that.
- **Will the Guardians of Oa accept John's terms?** John blackmailed them with exposing the Manhunter truth to operate independently. Screen Rant wonders if they'll fight back in season 2.
All episodes of Lanterns are streaming on HBO Max. If you need answers, you'll have to wait for a season 2 announcement or at least until 2027's Man of Tomorrow.
