Mayor of Kingstown: The Sheridan Crime Thriller You Missed

Collider reports that Taylor Sheridan's crime series Mayor of Kingstown has made its way to Netflix. The show, which previously lived exclusively on Paramount+, is now available to a much wider audience. And here's the good news: it's the kind of show that gets better with every season.

Set in the fictional Michigan town of Kingstown, where the prison system is the only industry, the series follows the McLusky family. They're the unofficial power brokers keeping the peace between cops, criminals, and politicians. Jeremy Renner plays Mike McLusky, an ex-con who becomes the town's mayor after his brother's death. The cast also includes Dianne Wiest, Hugh Dillon, and Taylor Handley.

When it first aired in 2021, audiences loved it, but critics were less impressed. That changed over time. According to Collider, Season 3 earned a 78% critics' score on Rotten Tomatoes, and Season 4 opened to a perfect 100%. The show's fifth season, which will be its last, was renewed in January 2026 and is already in production.

This is a great time to jump in. With all four seasons now streaming on Netflix, you can catch up before the final 10 episodes arrive. Collider notes the final season likely hits later this year or early next.

So if you missed it the first time, or you're a Sheridan fan who stuck to the Westerns, now's your chance. Mayor of Kingstown is raw, tense, and — as the scores show — on the rise.
