If you thought the Night King and Daenerys Targaryen were done after that divisive season 8 finale, think again. Screen Rant reports that both characters are making a comeback in 2027 through 'War for Westeros,' an upcoming strategy game from developer Playside Studios.

The game, described as a spiritual successor to the cult classic 'Lord of the Rings: Battle for Middle-earth 2,' lets players wage war for the Seven Kingdoms as one of several factions. The obvious ones like the Starks and Lannisters are there, but the latest trailer also showed off the undead hordes of the Night King and Daenerys with her Unsullied legions.

That trailer isn't just a tease. It gives a good look at the gameplay and shows how much of the series' history can be rewritten over a campaign. We see Jon Snow making his way to the Iron Throne, Jaime Lannister, Daenerys, and at the very end, a completely redesigned Night King. Yes, you can make the White Walkers take over if that's your dream.

Playside has also revealed individual character trailers for heroes like Arya Stark and the Mountain. Each hero isn't just a powerful unit—they come with abilities straight from the books and show. Arya's trailer showed her transforming into other hero units, a nod to her Faceless Men training. Small touches like that make it feel like the definitive Game of Thrones game fans have been waiting for.

'War for Westeros' won't be out until 2027, but the trailers so far promise a fun, strategy-filled return to Westeros. If it delivers, it could fill the 'Battle for Middle-earth 2' shaped hole in our hearts.
