'The Odyssey' Returns to Imax, 70mm This Month
Christopher Nolan's epic is heading back to premium screens for another run.

Christopher Nolan's "The Odyssey" is returning to Imax and 70mm theaters this month, Universal Studios announced Tuesday.
Screenings begin Oct. 9 at select Imax locations.
The Matt Damon epic has grossed $1.76 billion globally, making it Universal's highest-grossing film of all time before inflation adjustment, TheWrap reported. That tops the $1.67 billion record set by "Jurassic World" in 2015, a mark the film passed in its ninth weekend.
The film has piled up additional records along the way: Nolan's personal best at the box office, surpassing even the inflation-adjusted total of "The Dark Knight Rises"; the all-time R-rated box office record; and the highest-grossing Imax release ever. "The Odyssey" is Nolan's third $1 billion-plus hit, 18 years after "The Dark Knight" became the first superhero film to cross that threshold.
"What Chris and Emma [Thomas] have created will go down as one of the most ambitious and brilliantly executed films in cinematic history." - Donna Langley, Chairman of NBCUniversal Entertainment
"The Odyssey" is also the first non-sequel, non-remake film since "Avatar" in early 2010 to earn more than $1 billion outside the U.S. and Canada, per TheWrap.
The re-release continues Nolan's partnership with Universal, which began five years ago when he left Warner Bros. after more than a decade and took his three-hour "Oppenheimer" biopic to the Comcast-owned studio.
