Tubi’s Best New Movies: Spidey, Midsommar, Social Network
The free streaming service adds Tom Holland’s first Spider-Man solo film, Ari Aster’s sun-drenched horror and David Fincher’s Facebook drama.

Tubi keeps adding movies you’d normally pay separate subscriptions for. This week’s batch — the first of August — includes three you’ve likely heard of.
“Spider-Man: Homecoming”
Jon Watts directed this 2017 Marvel entry, which TheWrap calls “a delightful remix of the classic Spider-Man origin story.” Tom Holland plays Peter Parker after his brief appearance in “Captain America: Civil War,” dealing with street-level villains back at his New York high school. TheWrap praises Holland as a “generational casting find.” “Far From Home,” the 2019 sequel, is also on Tubi this month.
“Midsommar”
Ari Aster’s 2019 horror-comedy might be the right pick for anyone who wants spooky season energy while still stuck in summer heat. Florence Pugh stars as a grieving college student who travels to a remote Swedish village’s midsummer festival with her boyfriend (Jack Reynor) and his friends. TheWrap warns the film runs about 2.5 hours and describes it as “oddly funny and deeply upsetting, not to mention a total technical stunner.”
“The Social Network”
David Fincher’s 2010 Facebook-origin drama gets a free home on Tubi just as Aaron Sorkin’s “The Social Reckoning” — which TheWrap calls “somewhat conceptually confounding” — opens in theaters this weekend. Jesse Eisenberg plays Mark Zuckerberg; Andrew Garfield appears in what TheWrap calls an “unforgettable pre-superstardom performance.” TheWrap notes that Fincher’s direction and the passage of time make the film “play like a psychological horror at times.”
