Screen Rant recently highlighted seven mystery miniseries on Netflix that are as close to perfect as the genre gets. Each one rewards a binge, with clues, red herrings, and satisfying conclusions. Here they are.

11.22.63

A 2016 science fiction mystery based on Stephen King's novel. Screen Rant notes that the eight-episode series stars James Franco as a teacher who travels back to 1960 to stop the JFK assassination. His new life threatens the mission. The show is atmospheric, heartfelt, and unsettling.

The Haunting of Hill House

Mike Flanagan's modern take on Shirley Jackson's novel. The series jumps between the early '90s, when the Crain family moves into the haunted house, and the present, where the surviving children wrestle with trauma. Screen Rant calls it Flanagan's best Netflix show, with shocking scares and a deep sadness at its core.

The Fall of the House of Usher

Another Flanagan entry, loosely based on Edgar Allan Poe's story and several others. It follows Roderick Usher, a corrupt CEO, across a long timeline. Less emotional than Flanagan's other work, but faster and more thrilling, with mysteries that are a joy to unravel.

Fool Me Once

Based on Harlan Coben's 2016 novel, this British thriller stars Michelle Keegan as a former pilot who spots her supposedly dead husband on a nanny cam. She uncovers a conspiracy tied to his wealthy family. Screen Rant says the twists come fast, and the performances keep it grounded.

Revival

A 2025 Syfy miniseries based on the comic by Tim Seeley and Mike Norton. In Wausau, Wisconsin, the dead return with their memories intact. Police officer Dana Cypress investigates a murder involving the revived. Screen Rant describes the tone as a mix of horror, comedy, action, and mystery.

The Survivors

This Australian miniseries, based on Jane Harper's novel, debuted on Netflix in 2025. Charlie Vickers plays Kieran Elliott, the only survivor of a boating accident that killed his brother. When he returns to his small hometown, a young woman is murdered and suspicions fall on him. The show builds paranoia much like Broadchurch.

Wayward

Set in the fictional town of Tall Pines, Vermont, this miniseries follows two girls at a troubled youth academy and a police officer new to town. They uncover dark secrets. Screen Rant notes that the mysteries come fast but take time to answer, and Toni Collette's performance keeps viewers hooked.

All seven are available on Netflix now. Pick one and let the mystery unfold.
