8 Marvel Films That Are Perfect From Start to Finish
Collider picks the eight Marvel movies that hold up from opening scene to credits, from X2 to Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

Collider has named eight Marvel films it considers flawless from start to finish, spanning the MCU, the X-Men franchise and Sony's animated Spider-Verse.
X2: X-Men United (2003)
The first sequel to the original X-Men gets the nod for its opening scene — Nightcrawler attacking the White House — and its handling of discrimination and bigotry through Colonel William Stryker, played by Brian Cox. Collider credits writers Michael Dougherty, Dan Harris and David Hayter for the character development.
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018)
Collider calls this animated film a medium-changer, saying its stylistic risks inspired projects like *Arcane* and *Puss in Boots: The Last Wish*. The outlet praises the story and Shameik Moore's performance as Miles Morales, calling it a love letter to the character.
Black Panther (2018)
Ryan Coogler's film earns its spot for the story of T'Challa (Chadwick Boseman) and the villain Erik Killmonger (Michael B. Jordan), whom Collider calls one of the best Marvel movie villains. The outlet highlights the film's commentary on isolationism, strong female leads and global oppression.
Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014)
Often considered the best MCU movie, Collider says this political thriller by directors Joe and Anthony Russo keeps Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) unchanged and uses the contrast to drive his arc. The outlet calls the commentary on national security and freedom genuinely chilling.
Logan (2017)
James Mangold's film takes Hugh Jackman's Wolverine to the end of his life, with Dafne Keen as Laura. Collider describes it as a character study disguised as a Neo-Western, with no end-of-the-world stakes and a deeply personal story.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day (2025)
The most recent entry, starring Tom Holland and directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, is among the top three highest-grossing movies ever released. Collider says it delivers a grounded, street-level story that fans had been asking for.
X-Men: First Class (2011)
Matthew Vaughn's prequel tells the friends-to-enemies story of Charles Xavier (James McAvoy) and Erik Lensherr (Michael Fassbender). Collider calls it the best X-Men team film, more intimate than later entries, and says the MCU's X-Men should take notes.
Spider-Man 2 (2004)
Sam Raimi's sequel features Peter Parker (Tobey Maguire) questioning his life as Spider-Man while losing his powers. Collider highlights Alfred Molina as Doctor Otto Octavius, one of the greatest Spider-Man villains, and calls the film one of the best sequels ever made.
