AHS Season 13 Episodes 7 & 8: Angela Bassett Returns as Marie LaVeau

The latest double feature brings back fan-favorite characters from Coven and sets up a showdown with the Devil.

American Horror Story's 13th season delivered its third double feature Thursday, and the two episodes brought back two major players from Coven: Angela Bassett as Marie LaVeau and Jessica Lange as Fiona Goode, TVLine reports.

The episodes find the New Orleans witches still reeling from the death of Cordelia, who was killed by James Patrick March in last week's installment. Fiona returns to Miss Robichaux's Academy, discovers her daughter's body, and immediately takes revenge on March by turning his own serial killer army against him. She then whispers a spell that revives Cordelia.

Fiona promises to train Cordelia to become a Supreme for the ages and tells her to investigate who brought the Cortez Devils back from the dead. The witches cut open one of the corpses and find a serpent, confirming that Mr. Nas, also known as Satan, is behind the invasion.

Angela Bassett returns

The season's most anticipated cameo arrives in Episode 8 when Papa Legba, played by Orlando Jones (replacing the late Lance Reddick), tells Cordelia and Fiona they need Marie LaVeau to defeat the Devil. Queenie volunteers to return to hell in exchange for Marie's release, giving fans a reunion scene with Kathy Bates as Delphine LaLaurie.

Marie and Fiona immediately clash after her revival, but Cordelia urges them to unite against a common enemy. "United, we will defeat the Devil himself," Cordelia says. Marie replies: "Hell to the motherf***ing yeah!"

Reported by TVLine, next week's episode will feature Lange as Sister Jude from Asylum.
