Bloodaxe: First Look at Prime Video's Viking Epic
Prime Video has released the first 10 images from its upcoming series 'Bloodaxe,' from the creators of 'Vikings,' and has already greenlit a second season.

Prime Video is expanding its historical drama lineup with Bloodaxe, a new series from the creators of Vikings. The streamer released the first 10 official images from the show, Collider reported. Bloodaxe is set to stream in 2027, and Prime Video has already ordered a second season.
Collider notes that the early renewal mirrors the streamer's approach to hits like Reacher, which was picked up for multiple seasons ahead of its premiere. Bloodaxe Season 2 has already been shooting this year, which could mean a shorter gap between seasons. If it doesn't debut in 2027, it may arrive early 2028.
The series comes from Michael and Horatio Hirst, the father-son duo behind Vikings. The official synopsis, provided by Prime Video via Collider, follows Erik Bloodaxe (Xavier Molyneux) and his wife Gunnhild (Jessica Madsen) as they battle for the throne of Norway. It describes a kingdom torn apart by fierce rivals, shifting loyalties and betrayals, with war drawing in kings from other Scandinavian countries and an English ruler.
The cast includes Jessica Madsen as Gunnhild, Xavier Molyneux as Erik Bloodaxe, Sisse Marie as Thyra, Levi Miller as Haakon the Good and Rune Temte as Gorm.
