Chicago P.D. Premiere: Imani's Sister Shuts Her Out, FBI Agent Moves In

Imani's sister ends visits, and an FBI agent sets up in Voight's bullpen in the Season 14 premiere.

Watch it. The Season 14 premiere of Chicago P.D., reported by TVLine, gives Imani a painful new arc and introduces a threat Voight can't easily read.

When the show returned Wednesday, Imani had turned her sister Shari in at the end of last season. Shari took a plea and is in prison. Imani visits every day. But Shari removes her from the approved visitors list, saying she can't get better with Imani there.

Showrunner Gwen Sigan told TVLine: "Her identity was so wrapped up in that search [for Shari] that it leaves her with this void that she has to fill now." She added that Imani will deal with it actively, even if the choices aren't always healthy.

Meanwhile, Voight learns that all specialized units are being assigned a federal agent. The FBI's Charles Boyden (he prefers Charlie) moves into the bullpen. He first seems bumbling, but he fixes Voight with a long smirk at the end of the hour.

"The lovely thing about Charlie's character is that he's everything all at once," Sigan told TVLine. "He comes off very charming at times, very earnest at times, almost sweet at times throughout the season. But he also is a threat." Sigan teased that Charlie legitimately can disband the unit if he sees fit. The audience will struggle to read his motivations.
