Fantastic Four #17: Invisible Woman Gains Permanent Superpower
Screen Rant reports Sue Storm's force fields now work as psychic shields, and she may be more powerful than ever in the issue.

Fantastic Four #17 is available now from Marvel Comics, and it gives the Invisible Woman a new permanent superpower. Screen Rant reports that the issue, part of the DNX crossover with the X-Men, opens with the team suffering from collective amnesia in unfamiliar terrain. As they piece together their identities, Sue Storm acts instinctively in a moment of danger.
She creates tiny force fields that partition the brains of herself and the other three Fantastic Four members. Screen Rant calls it psychic brain surgery, performed in an instant and with superhuman precision. Sue, using the temporary name Ophelia, explains it in the issue: "Perhaps with my last bit of sanity, or...just some sort of survival instinct," she says, "I protect us all by shielding part of our brains."
Screen Rant notes that Sue has been shown to subconsciously limit her own power level in past stories, but Ophelia doesn't have that limitation. That could make her more powerful in this state. The outlet also highlights that the issue works as a standalone story, with the larger crossover connection only revealed on the final page.
The big question left open is whether Sue can undo what she did as easily as she pulled it off, restoring the team's memories. Screen Rant suggests that will be answered in upcoming issues.
