Intravenous 3: Borderline Free Prologue with Metal Gear Stealth

Screen Rant reports the standalone prologue launched October 2, offering two free missions on Steam that echo Metal Gear Solid V's stealth.

Play it. Intravenous 3: Borderline is a free prologue for the upcoming Intravenous 3, and early players are already drawing comparisons to Metal Gear Solid V's stealth mechanics, Screen Rant reports.

The prologue puts you in control of Gideon, a mercenary hired to protect a corrupt politician. After that goes wrong, he sets out for revenge across two full missions. Screen Rant notes the setup is a compact introduction to Gideon's story and the direction of the full game.

What makes Borderline feel like Metal Gear is the way stealth works. You have to track guard positions, plan your route, and decide when to strike. Screen Rant says things can go wrong fast when your plan falls apart, just like in Metal Gear Solid V. But Borderline is more punishing: one mistake can turn a careful infiltration into a desperate scramble. That makes every move deliberate.

The prologue also carries the same philosophy as the original Intravenous, which Screen Rant describes as a stealth game with tactical hardcore gunplay for players who want to fight through. Borderline gives you room to choose your approach, whether quiet or loud. It's not trying to be The Phantom Pain on a smaller budget: no vast open world or dozens of hours. Just two tight missions that show what Intravenous 3 will offer.

If you've been missing the tension of studying an enemy post and hoping your plan holds, Borderline is worth the download. And since it's free, there's no reason not to see if those Metal Gear comparisons hold.
