Marshals Season 2 Premiere: Garrett's Killer Revealed

The season 2 premiere of the Yellowstone spin-off finally answers who started the barn fire that killed Garrett Garvey in season 1, TVLine reports.

The season 2 premiere of "Marshals" finally puts a name to the person responsible for Garrett's death. TVLine reports that Tom Weaver's foreman, Jeb, is the one who started the barn fire that killed Garrett (Riley Green) last season. Many viewers suspected the Weavers were involved, but the premiere confirms their role.

Showrunner Spencer Hudnut told TVLine that Jeb's connection to Garrett was deliberate. "I wanted to connect everything back to Garrett, as well just to show how terrible these people are," Hudnut said. He added that Tom Weaver was the season's primary antagonist, with the show revealing more of his actions from earlier episodes.

Garrett, played by country star Riley Green, appeared in four episodes of season 1 as a former Navy SEAL who served alongside Kayce and Cal. TVLine notes that Green made his acting debut in the role and later became a coach on "The Voice" Season 30 this fall.

In the premiere, Kayce hunts down Jeb to save his son, eventually killing him with a rock and dumping his body in a river. According to TVLine, Kayce learns afterward that Jeb was also responsible for Garrett's death. Hudnut described the moment as powerful: "It's a haunting image that's going to stick with Kayce this season." He also discussed Kayce's growing concern for his son, Tate, who is about to graduate high school and face the world.

The episode closes a major season 1 mystery while setting up new tensions for the Dutton family this year.
