Forget The Boys. Prime Video's new reigning franchise is Reacher, the action thriller based on Lee Child's novels. Screen Rant reports that the show, along with its spinoff Neagley, has overtaken the superhero satire as the streaming service's flagship property in 2026.

Reacher debuted in 2022 as a sleeper hit, starring Alan Ritchson as the hulking military drifter who stumbles into trouble wherever he roams. The show's popularity grew through seasons 2 and 3, and season 4 premiered in August 2026, based on Child's 2009 novel Gone Tomorrow. Prime Video renewed Reacher for a fifth season before season 4 even aired.

Neagley's Success

The spinoff Neagley, centered on Maria Sten's recurring character from Reacher seasons 1-3, debuted in September 2026. It followed her investigation into a former associate's death. Despite not having source material from Child, the series was a critical success and earned a second-season renewal. Screen Rant notes that this proves the franchise's appeal doesn't rely solely on Ritchson's presence.

Why This Franchise Wins

Screen Rant highlights the simplicity of Reacher's premise as a key strength. Each season introduces a new setting and supporting cast, lowering the barrier for new viewers. In contrast, The Boys and its spinoffs like Gen V and the upcoming Vought Rising demand heavy lore recall. The Reacher franchise feels more like a procedural, similar to network staples like NCIS or Law & Order.

While Prime Video's other adaptations like Cross and CBS's Tracker have not matched Reacher's mainstream hit status, Screen Rant notes that Reacher and Neagley together offer escapist thrills that have resonated globally. The franchise's ability to expand beyond its original star suggests a long-term future for the shared universe.
