Trump Calls for Media Arrests Over Rally Crowd Numbers

The president wants The New York Times and other outlets charged for reporting low attendance at his events.

Donald Trump is calling for the arrest of news outlets over their coverage of his rally crowds. TheWrap reports that in a Truth Social post, Trump named The New York Times and other "Artificial Media Outlets" for allegedly lying about attendance.

Trump posted video of people lining up outside an Ohio arena, claiming the Times said there were empty seats when the arena was "full to the brim." He compared his own crowds to Bernie Sanders', saying the Times makes Sanders' small events sound huge while downplaying Trump's 50,000-person rallies.

In a second post, Trump explained that empty upper sections come from people "migrating" down to the main floor. He says he has cinematographers shooting the arenas to prove he never has empty seats. A representative for the Times did not respond to TheWrap's request for comment.

This is the latest in Trump's ongoing war with the press. Weeks ago, he tried to ban CNN, Politico and MS NOW from the White House, but the outlets regained access after suing.

The numbers are the story here. Trump's claim of 50,000 versus 500 is a classic overstatement. But calling for arrests? That's a new level. Skip the spin. The only thing getting arrested here is the truth.
