Collider has published a ranking of the 10 most cringeworthy movies of all time. The films are intentionally uncomfortable. As the site explains, that's not an insult when done on purpose.

  • *There's Something About Mary*: A broad comedy with crude jokes, including a prom night scene and a hair gel mix-up.
  • *Wild Tales*: An anthology of revenge stories that blends dark comedy with thriller tension.
  • *Brazil*: Terry Gilliam's dystopian comedy where the protagonist is trapped in a maddening world.
  • *Krisha*: A family drama about a woman returning for Thanksgiving. Collider calls it the only non-comedy on the list.
  • *Borat*: A mockumentary that combines lowbrow humor with satire. Not everyone was aware they were on camera, adding an edge.
  • *Shiva Baby*: A shiva gathering becomes a pressure cooker of secrets and awkwardness, building unexpected suspense.
  • *Happiness*: A dark comedy that tackles taboo subjects. Collider says calling it cringeworthy is an understatement.
  • *Friendship*: A quirky comedy where a bond between two middle-aged men unravels, with things getting messier and messier.
  • *The King of Comedy*: Martin Scorsese's film about a man who kidnaps a comedian for fame. The title is ironic; there is little actual comedy.
  • *Windy City Heat*: A documentary about a man pranked into thinking he's making a movie. The subject is not endearing, making the prank both cruel and darkly funny.

Collider's list is a reminder that cringeworthy can be a compliment. Approach these films with a strong stomach and an open mind.
