Imperfect Women Renewed for Season 2 at Apple TV, Kerry Washington to Lead

The thriller, originally a limited series, will continue with a new story centered on Washington's character.

Kerry Washington is coming back for more. Apple TV has renewed *Imperfect Women* for a second season, TVLine reports. The show was originally billed as a limited series, but the streamer changed course after its first run.

Washington will reprise her role as Eleanor and executive-produce the new season, which tells an original story about her character returning to Martha's Vineyard. The logline teases secrets and scandals beneath the surface of that affluent Black enclave.

Elisabeth Moss, who starred alongside Washington and Kate Mara in Season 1, is returning as an executive producer. But Apple's announcement does not say Moss or Mara will appear on screen again.

"We were thrilled to see how deeply these women and their stories resonated with audiences around the world, and I'm so excited to step back into Eleanor's shoes," Washington said in a statement. "She's intelligent and strong, but she also finds herself navigating complicated and sometimes messy situations."

Season 1 was based on Araminta Hall's novel and centered on a crime that shattered a decades-long friendship between Eleanor, Mary (Moss) and Nancy (Mara). TVLine's Dave Nemetz gave it a "B."

Series creator Annie Weisman will shepherd Season 2 alongside new co-showrunner Justin Hillian ("The Chi," "Snowfall"). Apple TV head of programming Matt Cherniss said they "jumped at the opportunity to expand the world of *Imperfect Women* through Kerry's fan favorite character."

No premiere date has been announced yet. Season 1 is streaming now on Apple TV.
