'Morning Joe' Hosts Blast Trump's 'Productive' Boast

The MSNBC panel called the president's claim that his second term is the most consequential in history proof he's out of touch.

The hosts of MSNBC's "Morning Joe" on Monday unloaded on President Trump for his weekend remarks calling his second term "the most productive two years" of any presidency.

TheWrap reports that Trump made the statement to reporters Saturday in front of the White House, adding that his term is "the most consequential presidency so far."

Co-host Joe Scarborough compared Trump's lack of self-awareness to Kamala Harris' 2021 comment on "The View" that she wouldn't change anything from the Biden administration.

"No regrets, no humility, no self-awareness at all," Scarborough said. The segment noted Trump's approval rating is in the low 30s.

New York Times opinion writer and panelist Mara Gay called the remarks "a slap in the face to ordinary Americans who are working two, three jobs right now to put food on the table."

Co-host Jonathan Lemire framed the comments as a midterm strategy: Trump is nationalizing the election around his record, which Lemire said Democrats welcome.

The segment is the latest example of cable news dissecting a president who shows no sign of changing his sales pitch.
