"Morning Joe" Hosts Torch Trump Over LA, Iran "Joke"

TheWrap reports that the MSNBC hosts criticized the president for his rally comments suggesting Iran could "take out" Los Angeles and San Diego.

The hosts of MSNBC's "Morning Joe" did not let President Trump's Monday night rally comments slide. TheWrap reports that on Tuesday's episode, Joe Scarborough, Willie Geist, Mika Brzezinski and Jonathan Lemire tore into Trump for telling a crowd in Nebraska that Iran could "take out" Los Angeles and San Diego.

Scarborough was the first to call out the remark, asking whether the president was joking about the obliteration of two major U.S. cities. "Not funny, if you're an American who actually believes that presidents should do more than divide us," he said, according to TheWrap.

Co-host Willie Geist pushed back against the idea that critics were being overly sensitive. He questioned what was funny about the line, noting that the joke seemed to rely on California being a blue state. "That's not the voice of an American president," Geist said.

Scarborough lamented the laughter from the audience, saying it showed how low the president has brought his party in a decade. Jonathan Lemire agreed, saying "There's no bottom here."

Mika Brzezinski went further, calling the idea that Trump was joking a "mind game." She said calling it a joke was generous.

TheWrap notes that the full segment is available to watch online.
