Runner Loses 2,100 Theaters, Sets October 13 Digital Release
The Alan Ritchson-Owen Wilson action comedy has dropped from more than 2,500 screens to 340 nationwide, Collider reports.

Collider reports that Runner, the action comedy starring Alan Ritchson and Owen Wilson, has been pulled from more than 2,100 theaters after opening in over 2,500 in September. The film now plays in only 340 locations nationwide. Its digital debut is set for October 13.
The film has grossed approximately $15 million domestically, according to the outlet. That puts it in the same range as this year's Jason Statham releases, Shelter and Mutiny.
Distributed by Angel Studios, the company's first major push beyond faith-based fare, Runner earned positive reviews. It holds a 77% critics' score and a 90% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. The critics' consensus calls it "fast and gleefully over-the-top" and praises Ritchson and Wilson's chemistry.
Ritchson remains a streaming powerhouse. He starred in War Machine, which Collider calls the most-watched Netflix original of 2026. He also led the Reacher series, which has been renewed for two more seasons after a record-breaking fourth season.
His earlier 2026 theatrical release, Motor City, grossed $3 million on a reported $30 million budget.
