Scarlett Holmes: Lucy Hale leads Roku rom-com mystery

Collider reports that Roku has ordered a limited series titled "Scarlett Holmes," starring Lucy Hale as a modern descendant of Sherlock Holmes. The series shifts the detective's observational brilliance from crime scenes to the world of modern dating and relationships.

Scarlett is joined by her friend Jane Watson, a gender-swapped version of the traditional male sidekick. Together they help clients work through mixed signals, secret crushes, and romantic dilemmas. Each episode draws its storyline from a beloved romantic comedy. Scarlett's own love life becomes the central mystery when she falls for Ollie Moriarty, a charming podcast producer who secretly plans to expose her methods. The series turns the traditional Holmes-Moriarty adversarial relationship into a romantic one.

Lucy Hale executive produces alongside Sophie Tilson and Steve Jaggi. The limited series is written by Paris Herbert-Taylor and Katie Wilbert. Jaggi Entertainment produces and will handle international sales.

Hale is best known for playing Aria Montgomery on all seven seasons of "Pretty Little Liars." She has also appeared in films such as "The Hating Game," "Puppy Love," "Which Brings Me to You," and "F Marry Kill." She recently wrapped the thriller "Legacy" and the romantic comedy "Princess."

In a statement reported by Collider, Hale shared her excitement:

The series is scheduled to debut exclusively on The Roku Channel in 2027.
