Sicario 3 Confirmed: Blunt, Brolin, del Toro in Talks

After years of development delays, the third Sicario film is officially moving forward with a new director and a script from Steven Knight.

The third film in Taylor Sheridan's crime franchise is finally happening. Reported by Screen Rant (citing Deadline), producers Black Label Media and Thunder Road are reuniting for the sequel.

Emily Blunt, Benicio del Toro, and Josh Brolin are in negotiations to return from the earlier movies. Padraic McKinley, director of *The Weight*, will helm the film from a script by Steven Knight of *Peaky Blinders*. It's the first installment not written by Sheridan.

Brolin told Screen Rant in August 2026 that production was expected to start soon. In 2025, he described the project as "very, very real."

Tentatively titled *Sicario: Capos*, the film was first planned in 2018 but was held up by scheduling issues and the 2023 writers' strike. It takes place after 2018's *Sicario: Day of the Soldado*.

More details are on the way as development continues.
