Togashi Details Health Issues in Hunter x Hunter Hiatus Update

Yoshihiro Togashi offered a concerning yet clarifying update on the future of Hunter x Hunter. In an October 5 post on X, the manga creator said physical and mental health problems have forced him to change how he handles professional requests. Screen Rant reports that Togashi did not announce a cancellation or give a return date for the series. Instead, he said that after finishing his current commitments, he plans to reject projects with fixed deadlines and give priority to his own manuscripts.

The distinction matters. This is a workload reorganization, not a publication schedule from Shueisha. Togashi also stated that he will announce separately when manuscript production resumes. No date, month, or chapter number was attached to that announcement, leaving the timeline open.

The manga had been running steadily. According to VIZ's official listing, Chapter 411 arrived on June 28, 2026. Chapters 412 through 420 followed across the summer, with Chapter 420 releasing on September 6. That completed the latest 10-chapter stretch, leaving Chapter 421 without a publication date.

That stretch came after a longer pause. Chapter 410 had appeared in December 2024, and the series went quiet before the June 2026 return. Togashi's latest wording refers specifically to accumulated physical and mental health struggles. Rather than setting a production target, he is removing external deadlines so his own work can take precedence.

Screen Rant notes that readers should not interpret the post as confirmation that Hunter x Hunter is ending. The update confirms a change in Togashi's working approach while the manga remains on hiatus. It does not establish when Chapter 421 will arrive. The only firm promise is that Togashi will announce it once he resumes manuscript production.
